THE TEAM OF THE YEAR AWARD.
I was standing there alone to accept this award, speechless, because I was thinking of all my amazing teammates, who should have been there with me. As a proud captain let me explain you, why this team is so special.
When I rejoined this team 5 years ago, I found a group of young, enthusiastic, talented women, we connected right away. Our journey began. We took the time to get to know each other and slowly we shared our dreams. We built an environment where we worked hard. PY setting the tone by preparing the gym for our warm-ups hours in advance. So we all started to do pre-warmups.
Our coach, Philip and his staff made us believe in something much bigger than just representing our country. We realized we can do something special if we all align behind 1 goal and that's our TEAM. Our team is always more important than any individual. We had amazing results, but also some setbacks, which made us grow, learn and appreciate the good times. We encouraged each other with so much enthusiasm, that it started to discourage our opponents.
We did not know we were building the foundations of a bright Belgian basket future. Let's keep chasing our dreams and never give up. I can't wait for 2021!
