→ Ann will play for the Belgian Cats this summer (8/05)
Ann wil join the belgian national team this summer to try and qualify for the upcomming European Championship in Poland in 2011. There will be 4 home games in sportscenter de Lange Munte in Kortrijk, against Italy (5/8), Holland (11/8), Latvia (23/8) and Croatia (29/8).
The top two teams of this group qualify for the EC in Poland. At the EC, the teams will play for a ticket to the Olympics in Londen in 2012.

With a third consecutive win against Euroleague-winner Spartak, Ekaterinburg crowns itself for the second year in a row the Russian Superleague Champion. This time they ahd a 73-678 win over Spartak.
→ Ekaterinburg leads 2-0 (27/04)
Ekaterinburg has the opportunity to win this years' Russian Championship after a 87-79 win over Spartak tonight. If Ekaterinburg does not win the game tomorrow, the championship finals move back to Spartak for the remaining game(s).
→ Ekaterinburg leads 1-0 in PO finals (24/04)
Spartak Moscow, being the home team in this first game, didn't manage to beat Ekaterinburg (62-70). Next week, Ekaterinburg has two home games to try and win the championship in 3 games.
→ Ekaterinburg qualify for Superleague Finals (21/04)
Ekaterinburg qualified with a 90-52 victory over Orenburg for the finals of the Russian Playoffs. The first game of these finals will be played on April, 24 and will be a 'best of 5' against Spartak Moscow.
→ Easy win for Ekaterinburg in Orenburg (18/04)
Orenburg and Ekaterinburg will play a third and final game for a ticket to the playoff finals next Wednesday. Ekaterinburg won the game in Orenburg: 66-94.
→ Ekaterinburg, third in Final Four, bites the dust in game of the Russian playoff semi finals (15/04)
In the game fore the bronze medal of the Final Four, Ekaterinburg won its game 84-50. Ann had 14 points in 14 minutes game time. Ekaterinburg ends this years European campaign with a bronze medal.
In the Russian superleague, they had a false start with a 76-77 loss against Orenburg. Therefore, they have to win the second game in Orenburg, in order to play a decisive 3rd game for a ticket to the finals.
→ Ekaterinburg overpowered by D. Taurassi (9/04)
Ekaterinburg will not win the Fiba Euroleague Championship this year. Ekat lead in the first half of the game, but Spartak Moscow, and especially Diana Taurassi, were too strong.
Coach Gundars wasn't able to find a solution to the scoring machine called Taurassi, who had 37 points tonight (8 three's) and 12 rebounds. She also handed out 6 assists... Final result: 87-79 after a thrilling end of the game, in which both teams had opportunities to get the win.
On Sunday, Ekaterinburg has to play the game that none of the Final Four qualifiers want to play: the game for the 3rd or 4th place against Valencia or Wisla.
→ Ann will not join San Antonio this summer(5/04)
Ann decided not to play in the WNBA this summer. After playing consecutive seasons both in Europe and the States, she will be taking a break this summer, to spend some time with her family.

→ Ekat gets ticket for Russian 1/2 finales (28/03)
As expected, Ekaterinburg had the upperhand in the game against Dynamo Moscow for a ticket to the semi finals of the Russian Superleague.

The next game will be on April 9, when they play the important game against Spartak Moskou in the semi finals of Euroleague final four.

In the last game of the regular season, Ekaterinburg (without Ann, who didn't play due to coach Gundars rotation with the non-Russsian players) suffered a 68-81 loss against rival Spartak Moscow.

→ Qualificatie after tough road game (26/02)
Kosice was leading by 1 point at the beginning of the final quarter, but Ekaterinburg managed to take over the lead en qualified for the Final Four tournament with a 60-65 win. Spartak Moscow also qualified, with a second win over Fenerbahce.
Ann had 17 minutes today, scored 5 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.

Novosibirsk couldn'stand up against Ann and her team Ekaterinburg. The home team lead the game from start to finish and eventually got a 91-68 win. Ann lead her team in scoring with 20 points in 20 minutes.
After the next game against Vologda, Ekaterinburg has an important appointment on Feb, 23 against Kosice for the first game of the quarter finals in the Euroleague competition.

No olé's for Ekaterinburg tonight as Valencia has yet again showed its ambitions by beating Ann's team 87-68. Valencia controled the whole game and never let Ekaterinburg a chance to take over.

Taranto held on tight untill the very end of the game. With 27 seconds left on the clock, Ekaterinburg only had a 3 point lead, but managed to win the game by 7 points (72-79).

Russian basketball lost one of its most recognisable figures on Monday when Shabtai von Kalmanovic was gunned down close to his home in Moscow. My Condolances to his family, He will be missed!

After an exiting first quarter, it was Ekaterinburg who had the upperhand in this game and finaly had an easy win over Vilnius (final score 85-56).

3 days after their first game, Ann and her team had to play for the second time in the regular competition. St-Petersburg wasn't able to get into the game and was blown away by Ekateriburg. → Ann is ready for a new season in Russia (5/10)
Last night, Ann arrived in Ekaterinburg, where she will kick off her 6th season of Russian basketball.
Today, she allready passed the necessary medical tests and had her first practice with her new teammates.

San Antonio did not manage to eliminate Phoenix in these Playoffs. Both teams held on close most of the game (they had 17 'lead changes'), but Phoenix finished the job by 100-92.

With this win (71-80), the Stars can take en option on the number four spot, heading for playoffs. They can qualify if Minnesota loses one of their two remaining games, or if San Antonio wins its' last remaning game at home against Seattle on Saturday.

The Stars finished a perfect week by winning game 3 at home against LA. Lisa Leslie and her team were sent back home with a 89-72 loss. Both teams will meet again next Tuesday, this time in Los Angeles.

San Antonio has put an end to the serie of losses (4) and still has it's eye on the number 4 spot in the conference. The Stars won the game after OT against Detroit (100-88, 21-9 in OT) has a tough game planned against Minnesota next Tuesday. Ann had her third double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. → Stars cannot turn the tide (27/08)
San Antonio knew that it had a tough game ahead against Indiana (number 1 in 'the East' - 13 games undefeated at home) and unfortunately things didn't work out for the Stars in Indiana. Becky Hammon, leading scorer in the league, was held to 0 points in the game and that was key to the Stars' game loss (despite Ann's 18 points - and 14 rebounds - and Sophia's 18 points). Altough Phoenix had 89 points, San Antonio was not impressed and did even better with 106. Great win against the number 1 in the conference!

→ No win for Stars in Phoenix (13/08)
Phoenix, leading the conference standings, confirmed its status and defeated San Antonio 95-83. The Stars hold on to their 4th spot in the conference, just ahead of LA in the race to the playoffs. In the next game, Ann and her teammates have chance to take revenge for this loss, when Phoenix visits the Stars' AT&T Arena.

San Antonio had a win in mind against Sacramento, currently ranked at the bottom of the conference standings, but as things go in the WNBA, every game has to be played... With a split second left, Ann got the assist from Becky Hammon and hit the winning jumper at free throw range. Final score: 87-89!

Ann travelled to Seattle yesterday, to join the Silver Stars team, on tour on the West coast. She will perform in her first game of the season tonight against the Storm.

→ Ann signs with UMMC Ekaterinburg
Last week, Ann signed a contract with Ekaterinburg, current Russian champion and bronze medaillist in the past Euroleague competition.
Ann about her transfer:
"First of all I want to thank the organisation of CSKA for the last 5 years.
This season was a difficult one, but everybody worked hard to make the best of it. I will definitely miss my teammates, who have become friends.
But now I am looking forward to a new challenge with UMMC Ekaterinburg. I am excited to reunite with Maria Stepanova and Svetlana Abrosimova.
The UMMC coaching staff is also very familiar, Gundars Vetra (ex CSKA), Marianne Stanley (ex new York) and Sabina Juras (ex Valenciennes).

The players of CSKA showed that they didn't want a third game in this best of three and defeated Dynamo Moscow 69-112.
Ann ended this playoff round with a double double: 20 points and 10 rebounds (check full stats) and will enjoy her well deserved hollidays after a difficult season...
→ Win for CSKA against Dynamo (22/4)
CSKA won the first game in the best of three against Dynamo: 90-74. Dynamo was never able to get CSKA into trouble throughout the game. Ann had a big part in today's win with 21 points and 18 rebounds! (check stats). The second game will be played on Saturday at Dynamo.
→ No finals for CSKA after defeat in Spartak (18/4)
CSKA did not manage to win the decisive third game against Spartak' star team (final result 74-58). Ann led her team with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists (check stats). At the Spartak side it was Lauren Jackson (16 ptn) to lead her team in scoring.
As from next Wednesday, CSKA will play Dynamo Moscow in the race for the third place in a best of three.
The important third game between Spartak and CSKA on Saturday (18/04) will be broadcasted on at 1 PM CET (3 pm Moscow-time).

Diana Taurassi (29 points) and Lauren Jackson (20 points) combined for almost half of the Spartak total of points. Ann on the other hand had a massive double double with 26 points and 12 rebounds (full stats can be found here), but Spartak was just too strong in this game. In the last quarter, Spartak even managed to make it a 21 point victory. Result: 80-101.

Today, CSKA had to play the first game of the semi finals of the Russian Playoffs. Not quite an easy game if the opponent is brand new Euroleague winner Spartak Moscow. But CSKA, with Ann in a very good shape, managed to get out with a win. Result: 70-84 and a 1/0 lead for Ann and her team in a best of three. The second game against Spartak, is a home game for CSKA, next Wednesday. If they win, they push through to the finals. If Spartak wins, they will have to play a decisive third game.

After last years' succesfull WNBA campaign, Ann will be playing for the Stars again this summer . After the Russian season, she will take some time off to get some rest and she will join Silver Stars in the second half of the season. CSKA won the game for the third spot against Vologda by 91-72. In the game for the cup, it was Ekaterinburg who got the upperhand in the game against Spartak Moscow.

CSKA just came a little short against Spartak Moscow. During three quarters of the game, both teams held on to each other, but it was in the final quarter that Spartak managed to push through and win the game 72-61.

Today, CSKA took revenge for the defeat this weekend in Orenburg. Ann and her team won their game by 94-58.

Just before the Christmass break, CSKA had beaten Ekaterinburg on the road with a difference of 23 points. Today, it was Ekaterinburg who took revenge by winning the game in Moscow by 26 points: 42-68.... A difficult week for Ann and her team!

→ CSKA kicked out of Europe (4/2)
CSKA did not get past Salamanca in a thrilling third game of the 1/8 finals of the Euroleague. During the game, CSKA seemed to have controle, but the home team - supported by a very fanatic home crowd - miraculously managed to pull out overtime twice. At the end of the game, Becky Hammon was fouled out and a couple of threepoint shoots killed CSKA in the last minutes.
So the Euroleague competition ends surprisingly early for CSKA in a difficult season ...

Ann and her teammates showed with a convincing 95-64 win that they are not planning to drop in this stage of the Euroleague competition. With 5 players in double digits, CSKA was just too strong for the spanish team tonight.

CSKA has lost its first game of the 1/8 finales in Salamanca by 80-69. CSKA never got control of the game and now has to play at least 3 games to reach the quarter finals... Ann had 14 points and 6 rebounds in this game.

→ Magnificent win for CSKA against Spartak (18/1)
CSKA Moscow - Spartak Moscow is one of the absolute top games in the Russian Women Superleague. CSKA prooved today that they deserve to be at the top of the ranking ... They won the game, after a hard fought battle, by 76-73 against star team Spartak.
Ann really was in super form and had a great double-double: 23 points (including 2/3 from behind the arc and 7/10 free throws) and not less than 16 rebounds (12 off.). Full stats can be checked here.
→ No problem for CSKA in Vologda
The first game after the Christmas break didn't bring any trouble for CSKA - apart from the 10 hour train ride to Vologda. With 'new' coach - Igor Grubin (coach Gundars went to Ekaterinburg during the winter break, where he replaced Laurent Buffard - Grubin has been Samara's head coach for several years before Gundars) they won the game 67-84.

Like last year, Fiba sets up an Allstar game with the best players performing in the Euroleague. The best European players in the league will play the best non-European players on March 8th, 2009 in the beautifull city of Paris.
You can vote by visting the Fiba-website and select Ann's name in the list of the European centers... Go out and vote!
→ Ann elected as best European basketballplayer 2008 - 1/01
The Italian newspaer Gazzetta dello Sport awarded the best female and male basketballplayer of the year. In this edition, Ann (for the fifth time in her career) was elected as best female player for the year 2008.
A great recognition for Ann by fellow players, coaches and journalists . It was the first time ever that a player was elected 5 times in her career.
The belgian sportsworld can really be proud of this performance!

→ CSKA gets win against Venice - 16/12
Venice visited Moscow as leading team of the group and was hoping for a good result. A few minutes before the end of the game, both teams were tied, but CSKA finished strong and eventually won the game 80-72 (the third consecutive loss for Venice).
CSKA moves on to the second spot in the ranking, but Sopron still has a game to play tomorrow against Brno.

CSKA played really great in one of the most difficult games on the road in the competition. They won the game against former coach Laurent Buffard and former teammate Maria Stepanova 50-73.

CSKA suffered a 77-68 loss tonight in Sopron. Sopron, that was trailing just behind CSKA in the ranking, now jumps over CSKA to the second place.

→ CSKA back on track - 7/12
After the past terrible two weeks, CSKA "new style" played its first game. For the seventh game of the Euroleague season, the played against Brno (in Brno).
Ann and her teammates prooved to be highly motivated and won convincingly by 20: 91-71. With this win they get back in second position, after Venezia.
Ann had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes for her team (full stats: check the stats page).
→ CSKA is officially back in competition - 3/12/08
Since the official team meeting, including the presence of the brandnew sponsor for CSKA, Ann's team is 'back in business'. Both the team as the sponsor had to offer the guarantees that the players wanted be confirmed.
With this new start, Ann is closing a period in which she was negotiating with several teams to formalise her transfer. But, as turned out, CSKA pulled out a nice little rabbit out of it's hat in the last remaining moments. The team picks up again and will participate in the Russian Superleague, the Russian Cup and the Fiba Euroleague.
However, they lose the points of the game against Riga that they didn't play.
The first upcomming game will be played in Brno next Sunday for the Fiba Euroleague.

In an official meeting with the CSKA board, the players of the CSKA women basketball team got confirmed what they already were told off the record last week: due to the financial problems of their main sponsor, Volgaburmash, Ann's team CSKA Moskou has no longer the financial abilities to keep their team in competition...
As a result, CSKA will be no longer participating in the Fiba Euroleague, the Russian Superleague and the Russian cup as from today.
In the past week, several options to keep the team running were investigated, but these efforts had no result.
Ann, who had a great number of successes with CSKA (formally known Samara), will decide in the following days and weeks on which team she will play the rest of this season.

→ Home win for CSKA against Orenburg - 23/11
CSKA holds on to the lead in the Russian Superleague after the 84-69 home win against Orenburg. Ann and her team didn't lose a point so far in the Russian league.

Today, Ann played very close to her home country, Belgium. CSKA won it's Euroleague game in the North of France against Lille by 79-88. Ann was in good shape, with her third double double in six games: 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. (For full stats: check our stats page).

So far, CSKA has been doing as expected in the Russian League, but in the Euroleague they suffered their second loss in this competition... Just until the final seconds of the game, Ann and her team were trying to close the gap, but it just didn't work out... Result: 66-63 loss and at the moment a second place, together with Sopron and just after the surprising Venicians, who have a splendid 5/5. Early in the fourth quarter, Ann and her teammates were trailing by 5, but thanks to an ultimate finish effort, the were able to keep the win at home: 81-77.

In this rather strange weekend (Maria Stepanova was transfered suddenly to Ekaterinburg) Ann and her team really needed a good performance and a win against Dynamo Moscow. They got the win, but it certainly wasn't an easy one. They were 10 points behind ad half time, but they managed to make it a 77-79 win...

Brno is a hard team to tackle at home and CSKA did not manage to take home the win against a motivated Brno. The home team won the game 70-65.

CSKA hasn't got too much trouble in this competition. Same goes for today's game against Chelyabinsk. Ann and her team won by 104-50 in their own CSKA-arena.
